whales on rails!
I've moved around a handful of times in my life. Some people think i'm crazy. From LA to Honolulu... and back. Most recently, I made the 3,000 mile drive across the country to Washington, DC. On a whim. "Hey Dad, can I come sleep on your couch a while?" So it's not uncommon for me to completely trash something and start new.
Continuing that trend, I did it again. I rebuilt my site. I think this is version five. This time in Ruby on Rails! Anyone who knows me will ask what kind of crazy drugs I'm taking to have ditched Django & Python. I'm hosting it on Heroku, which has become an indispensable asset in my hacker toolbox. There's lots of kool-aid flowing in this new setup.
I also decided i'd break free from the heavy-duty wordpress-style blog I had been evolving since I started many moons ago. Instead, there are just a handful of models and routes and a very simple UI that focuses on fresh content. It went through a handful of design iterations (the most elaborate is here on dribbble) but I feel the one I have implemented here reflects me best. No fuss, a hint of crazy color, and an emphasis on what really matters: the content.
I'll be posting more often than I did before. Anticipate lots of quick posts detailing a handy ruby/python/javascript helper function, or a quick fix for a server-side problem. And to top it all off, more sick dance remixes than a freshman co-ed dorm.
